Yah's Shalom Heals

In Hebrew Yah = God and Shalom = Peace

Yah’s shalom heals my body mind and soul

You can heal too if you should be so bold.

*

Glaucoma has come down my family line

Taking their sight, making them blind

I put up my hand saying ‘Stop right there!’

You have the power as well, if only you dare.

*

The optometrist checks my eyes and grunts

His face oddly contorted, stumped

Unh, I can’t believe your prescription hasn’t gotten worse.

I smile inside.  “I won’t accept the curse.”

*

Yah’s shalom heals my body mind and soul

You can heal too if you should be so bold.

*

No virus can stand the test

No disease can be made manifest

No sickness can live in me

Accept no fear.  That is the key.

*

No voice can convince me I’m not worthy

Yah’s  unwavering support is sturdy.

As I stitch the pieces of my life

I breath Zen and release strife

*

Yah’s shalom heals my body mind and soul

You can heal too if you should be so bold.

*

I rethink and rehash remunerating thoughts

Days, weeks, years; It wasn’t all for naught

I finally figured it out: I finally came to see

What makes you weak. What makes you hate me.

*

I studied the Bible looking for answers

It introduced me to personalities reminiscent of cancers

Now when I meet these people in my life I recognize

Their conniving, cunning, illness and lies.

*

Yah’s shalom heals my body mind and soul

You can heal too if you should be so bold.

*

My second family with its ties to eastern Europe

With their undressed way to look at life, never sweetened with syrup

I ran to them just to help me remember

There are people in this world who want me to do well; no matter my color; no matter my gender

*

It almost got me, it almost made me racist

I thought I’d never trust again any white faces

Then my grandson was born the color of milk & honey

So eager to learn and love, with a disposition so sunny.

*

Yah’s shalom heals my body mind and soul

You can heal too if you should be so bold.
